Question 17" wheels for track events, where to buy?

I am trying without luck to find a manufacturer of 17" wheels for track events. I am not looking for $400 pretty wheels like they typically make for our cars, maybe just steel wheels like Diamond or Bassett, but in 17". This is for an ERA, 5 X 4.75 bolt circle. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Try Discount Tire at
http://www.discounttire.com/dtc/find...do?step=search
They allow you to seach by your bolt pattern unlike Tire Rack

Default 16" are easy to get and cheap

Steel 16" rims and tires are much more plentiful and cheaper than anything 17" You would be able to get all the sizes, ratings and compounds you like, CHEAP wheels, and you probubly wouldn't notice the rim diameter difference.

An addition to my post: Most 16" wheels won't clear the 13" Baer brakes I have, and the ones that do won't allow much airflow around the rotor. Also, I haven't found any performance tires wider than a 255 for the rear....

I don't think you are going to find any cheap wheels in the 17" size. I know it's a little late but with a 2500 lb car you don't need 13" rotors to have great brakes. A fellow racer friend of mine has an ERA with 12" brakes and he runs the stock car wheels with 15" slicks for the track. I also run the 15" slicks with my Contemporary . I don't think you will find any better tire for the track than pure slicks. If you do find some economy 17" wheels than don't waste your money on high dollar performance street tires, just go for the slicks.

Default Slicks

Just wondering... Would you run slicks on the street? Slicks have their place but IMO you need a good set of 17" wheels in order to be able to run good High performance Street tires on the street. I use M/T Slicks for drag racing and my BFG KD's for Autocross and Road racing. To each his own but IMO you need to leave the slicks in the trailer when you go out on the street...

Regards,

Hi Bob That JustA6 is one of the loudest V6 motors running. That motor runs like a V8. Rumor has it that there is going to be weight added to slow you down. Hope you and the car are well and see you at R&G in Sept. Ask Bob or Peter at ERA< maybe they can help you with wheels. Kit Car show at Carislie PA next weekend, maybe some one can help you their. Good Luck Cheese Rick Lake
