Hi dcapo . I am also looking for similar information . I am building a "street" version 427 cobra replica , and the NAF car I have has the competition cap way too far forward in the rear fender . A set of reference points from an original street cobra would be great :Say a point back from the door edge , forward from the top of the tailite and sideways from the trunk opening . Can anyone help ??

Hi dcapo. Just stopped by at XK's Unlimited and they had two of Shelby's 4000 series cars in the shop . So I measured the gas cap location with a cloth tape to follow the contours ( ol' Shel's cars are supposed to be as original , right ?). Anyway , here are the dimensions to the center of the cap: Back from the top of the door opening 33 3/4" , Forward from the top of the tailite 17 3/4", Out from the trunk opening 8 1/4" . The cap is located ever so slightly inside the "peak" of the fender.
My NAF car has the fuel filler located about center over the wheel opening , way off from the "original".
