ColoScott,

If you would like I could tape record the ear splitting sounds coming from my little 351, send you a copy and you could play the tape everytime you pull up next to a BB Cobra and really drown him out.Easier than going Vroom, Vroom.

Just trying to help,
Cranky

Smile LOUD PIPES

I was told yesterday by a Harley owner that the Quebec Provincial Police (similar to state police but generally fatter) are going around sticking a probe up the Harley pipes and taking a decibel reading. No warning, first offence is $250. I am beginning to wonder if I will have to tone down my side pipes a bit.

Wayne

WAYNE TELL THEM (PROVINCIAL POLICE) TO HOLD THE PROBE OVER THEIR HEAD AND LET ME REV MY MOTOR. I THINK THEY CAN HEAR ME IN ALABAMA. MY PIPES ARE TOO LOUD!!!!!! AND IT'S A SMALL BLOCK! I CAN BE HEARD 1 1/2 MILES AWAY IF I GET ON IT A LITTLE( 3500 RPM) IN 1ST AND 2ND. IF MY PIPES WERE NOT COATED, I WOULD CUT THEM OPEN AND QUIET THEM DOWN.

I knew the sound of my car was just right when I went to pick it up from the previous owner. A neighbor's large dog was barking aggresively and inching closer as I parked the trailer along the street. When I fired up the Cobra to drive it on to the trailer, the dog looked like he had been hit with a stick. He turned and ran with his tail tucked until he was behind his house. A moment later, I heard another neighbor's car alarm respond to vibration from the exhaust with a piercing cry.

A few weeks later, I cruised down the beach road in Panama City Beach, Florida during what appeared to be bike weekend. There were hundreds of bike and bikers standing around talking. The only sound that turned their heads was the Cobra. I imagine their first thought upon hearing that sound was, "Damn, what kind of bike is that?"

The only problem I've had with the sound of the exhaust came when I went to my first autocross race. I got lost during the first two runs largely because I was so engrossed in listening to the sound of the engine at full song. ... The thing I like most about this car is that it presents an overwhelming assault on every sense.

Tommy, I had a similar experience when I took a friend for a ride. We came to a four way stop in the country and two very large dogs came running and barking at us. After a couple quick revs, one dog was headed south and the other was headed east.

Yes, as a relative newbie, I've now had the pleasure of turning back dogs, pedestrians, and triggering car alarms. Thought the latter was apocraphal. It's not.

Default Call Lucien

At Arizona Exhaust. He did my pipes and man are they sweet. I heard a lot of cars at DVSF II and I like the sound of mine the best. Of course I am biased! Do a search on this guy and you will find a lot of info on him.

Lightbulb Sound Library

With all of these great sounding cars at our disposal, why don't we start a sound library?
