I knew the sound of my car was just right when I went to pick it up from the previous owner. A neighbor's large dog was barking aggresively and inching closer as I parked the trailer along the street. When I fired up the Cobra to drive it on to the trailer, the dog looked like he had been hit with a stick. He turned and ran with his tail tucked until he was behind his house. A moment later, I heard another neighbor's car alarm respond to vibration from the exhaust with a piercing cry.
A few weeks later, I cruised down the beach road in Panama City Beach, Florida during what appeared to be bike weekend. There were hundreds of bike and bikers standing around talking. The only sound that turned their heads was the Cobra. I imagine their first thought upon hearing that sound was, "Damn, what kind of bike is that?"
The only problem I've had with the sound of the exhaust came when I went to my first autocross race. I got lost during the first two runs largely because I was so engrossed in listening to the sound of the engine at full song. ... The thing I like most about this car is that it presents an overwhelming assault on every sense.
