Ceramic Coating in Southern Ca.
Does anyone know of someplace in Southern California that does good work coating headers and sidepipes ? Thanks in advance.
|
I used Olympic Coatings in San Marcos. Ceramic coated in silver first, then in black, about $375.00, for 8 tubes and 2 sidepipes.

In southern califorina the best you can use is Doug's Headers in anaheim. He coated my full length headers for $150 turnaround was less than a week. Very shiny ceramic coating.

Thank you both very much for the info...I'm in Encinitas so Olympic will work perfect - thanks DC...You saved me $350.
ANOTHER THING - is it normal for a dealer to charge $750 for ceramic coating when any moron can do a quick search on the net and see that it only costs $350 ?????? Seems to me that if they charged $500 and didn't try and friggin gouge the customer for so much - I'd actually let them do it and save myself the time and hassle of dragging all that stuff around in the back of my truck. But now I'll have it done myself and they don't get crap. |
The dealer has to make his nickel too. Besides, they would have to box and ship the pipes, deal with inadequate service from Jet-Hot (or whoever) and possibly eat the cost of damaged pipes if that were to happen in shipping. There are alot of reports of people's sidepipes coming back dented from the coating place, probubly from the shipping. But if you physically dropped your pipes off at the dealer in fine condition, if they were dented when you went to pick them up, the dealer would have to rectify the problem at his cost and try to get compensated by jet-hot or fed-ex. If you are wiling to undertake the hassle yourself, you will save money on most everything, the markup is for the service you receive by having someone else deal with the problem for you

"Nickel" Last time I checked a nickel does not equal $300 plus...And as far as shipping goes...Your saying I the consumer have to pay for other people's mistakes ??? I don't think so. And you call getting your pipes coated a "problem". Last time I checked this process was supposed to be enjoyable and something to look forward to. So basically what your saying is the dealer charges me an extra $350 to put the pipes and headers in a flatbed and take them to the local coater.
That sure as hell doesn't cost $350. Do the math and get your facts straight - then come talk to me... NEVER LIFT |
agro 1,
Run a search on member's problems with coating headers. You will find it might not be so "fun". Mostly due to dents, several have sent them back and forth several times without success. Hand deliver them as Mr. Fixit recommended. Take care, Steve D***ey |

Thanks for the tip - I have noticed the problems with sending them away to be done. Luckily for me, there is a coater near my home and you can bet I will hand deliver them.
