Question Coil over shocks...you uses what ????

HELP.

I need to order front shocks for my Mid-States.
Aldan is the shock of choice for them.

My question...

I plan on driving mine on the street with the occasional trip to a road race course. Some have said the Aldans won't last too long.

I looked at the Carreras today, seems like it might be better suited to the dual duty that I need.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Bill Cook

Default SPAX

Height and damping adjustable SPAX. I use them for street and open track and like em a lot! It's easy to adjust ride stiffness for street and track use. I've found that for the track, softening up the rear to get the car to squat, helps make the car bite where, with a stiffer setting, the rear would tend to step out.

Good luck, Pete

PS see ERA parts list or http://www.spax.co.uk/

Hey,

I used parts from everyone !!!

Upper and lower tubular control arms from Speedway Motors,
strut rods and spindles from Heidit's, rack from Flaming River,
drilled rotors from Auto Specialty, calipers from Cardone, and ???? on shocks.

Keep in mind that I removed the upper shock mounts and installed the x-brace. Check out the photo gallery.

Good luck,
Bill Cook

Bill,

I saw the brace. Why did you put it in?

Default 'cause.....

when you open the hood of a Cobra you should see the (dare I say trademark ??) x-brace.

You will notice the difference between a Mid-States and an ERA,
the MS has a large empty area, while the ERA look's like the original Cobras.

Plus, I can use a shock with more travel=better tuneability and control of the suspension.

I guess I am just picky about the details.

Just my personal opinion.

Cheers,
Bill Cook

I hope Bob's not watching !!

ha ha

Actually I am the second person to do this. Jim Thomas did it first on Pat Bailey's M-State.

I was always concerned about bottoming and topping out the Mustang II coil-over when driving at speed.

Is this something you can fabricate and weld ????
I did spend the money and have a AWS welder do the welding.

I can provide you with more detailed photos and info if you want, email me.

Cheers,
Bill Cook

Thumbs up Carrera chrome coil overs

With the adjustment wrench, you can fine tune them. I also have the most advanced suspension option available from West Coast cobras.

Aldan units work well for me, plus free life time rebuilding. Just rebuilt all of them.
