gauges

Which are better gauges to use, the mechanical or electronic? I have gotten conflicting information. Thanks, LaNette

My personal choice is mechanical..... they respond immediately, usually have 270 degrees of scale, and continue to regester when the engine/ignition is off. They do require some plumbing to install them, which makes installation more difficult and time consumming.

Electrical gauges are slow to respond to changes, only have 90 degrees of scale and when the ignition switch is switched off, the gauges stop functioning. Installation is much easier.

I don't believe there is any difference in accuracy between the two types.

Mechanical hands down wins. They rely on no other systems to work properly, I have a bad feeling about relying on the alternator and regulator to know what my oil pressure is. They also look better and read quicker. Electrical sender gages are cheaper and easier.

I have to disagree. I went with all electronic, except for fuel pressure, including the speedo. Simple install. I've got over 10k on the Cobra and everything works fine.
