My personal choice is mechanical..... they respond immediately, usually have 270 degrees of scale, and continue to regester when the engine/ignition is off. They do require some plumbing to install them, which makes installation more difficult and time consumming.
Electrical gauges are slow to respond to changes, only have 90 degrees of scale and when the ignition switch is switched off, the gauges stop functioning. Installation is much easier.
I don't believe there is any difference in accuracy between the two types.
