Hood Scoop Cut Out ?

What is everybody doing with the opening in the hood scoop??

Do you cut through both the inner and outer panels? Seems like if caught in the rain, the air cleaner would be sucking in water,....

I've seen some with screen in the opening,... any recommendations??

I need input on this,... before I bond the sections together. Thanks.

Hey Ron,
Mines cut out open to the elements, and actually, every Cobra I have ever seen has been the same way. I don't think most people drive them in the rain, but I'll bet you could get something like a K&N filter which requires a little oil be sprayed on it. At least with some oil, the water may dissapate.

Yes the hood scoop should actually be open without any screen. More water will hit the aircleaner in the rain from water getting vaporized through the radiator and fans than the tiny bit that passes through the scoop. Don't worry it's only water

Here's another Question for you>>>

I have made the cut outs in the inner and outer hood panels. They look good....
I set them on the body... looking through to the air cleaner, it looks completely crappy in there, is there a way to finish the inside of this area to make it smooth and clean??
If so, When (before or after bonding the panels)and how should I do this?

I am at the point in my build that is pretty much unwritten in my EM Manual.
I guess from here on out it's all a matter of personal devotion and taste,....

Hi Ron,
My hood scoop is open, but to make it look better I made and blended in a fiberglass strip to the inside edge of the top panel so that the scoop opening isn't just a hole looking down to the engine. Looks pretty good.
