Default trigo spinner gouges on mating surrface

i just pulled the wheels off of my spf to look at "stuff" and noticed
gouges/drag marks where the spinner mates to the wheel.
there appeared to be lubrication on surfaces. is this normal?
i have sanded down the high spots.

Hi Steve Have you tryed Antisiezed from permatax. A thin coating works great on my pin drives, it is a little messy though. You my want to buy a spinner socket to install and remove your wheels. Good Luck Rick Lake

I saw those spinner sockets on a website for somewhere around $140 bucks. Ouch. Is there other vendors for these?

Forget the spinner socket tools. they don't work as well as a good ol' lead hammer, and they are more likely to damage your spinners. You need to apply antiseize compound to all the contact surfaces on your pin drive wheels. Where the pins go into the wheel, the spinner threads, and the conical seat where the spinner and wheel meet. Get the antiseize that is aluminum based, not the copper stuff, it blends in better.

Smile Anti-sieze compound

Just about any Home Dept, Lowes or other hardware store will have it. It's just powdered lead or copper suspended in a thick grease. Get the lead based product, as mentioned, as it's silver-grey colored and blend in better with your wheels. Also, better autoparts stores will carry it....maybe not Autozone stores, and those of that type, but I don't know for sure. Check 'em out....

If you don't use anti-sieze on your knock offs, threads, conical surfaces, and drive pins, you may have to CUT your wheels off....do I need to tell you how 'spensive THAT will be? More than one wheel has been damaged beyond repair because anti-sieze wasn't used. Please don't make this mistake....you'll not be a happy camper....trust me!

Exclamation Spinners

I've had lotsa experience with the aluminum to aluminum mating surface of the Trigo wheels. Here's some background you may find of interest:

The galling of your spinner / wheel surface is due to lack of anti-seize compound. Aluminum is soft, and once the unlubricated surfaces mate, they will tend to score or gall after being tightened.

It is important to "dremmel" and sand (use coarse sand paper) the mating surfaces as sooth as possible lest one rough surface will again "grab" the other when tightened.

To order the proper anti-seize for your aluminum surface... try this:

Once you have your spinner off, you do not need a socket tool. They do not need to be re-torqued that tight. I simply use my lead hammer with a couple brisk hits after hand tightening. That is all that is needed. The safety wire should be wired with slack so you can see if the spinner backs off any.

Remove spinners, inspect mating surfaces, and recoat once yearly. Your Trigos will never be a problem again!!
