Wheel cleaners

This probably brings up a much discussed subject from past threads , but , I need some advice .
I blew the rear end axle seal on my Ford 9" in my replica and my rear wheel , PS Engineering halibrand look-a-likes , got liberally coated with that smelly black stuff .
Well I've tried a number of degreasers - brake cleaner , 409 , orange stuff , and I had no problem cleaning the machined surfaces , but the "natural cast" surfaces have absorbed the black stuff .
Any suggestions for cleaning that won't discolor my polished surfaces yet bring the cast surface back to its original finish ????

After watching many 3 a.m. infomercials on Oxy clean it seems that if you mixed some of that with just a little bit of water so it was like a paste and let it soak on there it might take it off. Don't ask me why i remember this.

Glenn is right. The active ingredient is basically hydrogen peroxide, or a close cousin.

You might try the regular hydrogen peroxide first before going to the store for the Oxy stuff. Cleans like mad, but it is pretty harmless. I've used it to take grease out of a white T-Shirt.

i found out the hard way---only on one wheel--never use wesleys
bleech/tire cleaner unless you cover the wheel. it spots the hell
out of them --had to get out the buffing stuff to get shine back

just a fyi

greg, have you tried power washing? would want to be very careful though
