Default Fuel Tank Size

How large are most Cobra fuel tanks? My car holds only about 14 gallons and I have room for a tank with 24 gallon capacity. I was wondering what others hold? Later, David.

My older Unique holds 12 gallons..... would like to carry more, but hate to give up the room in the trunk. Can easily carry a weekend bag for the wife and I along with a small cooler, some tools and some other stuff.

Thanks, guys. I went ahead and built and installed a stainless steel 24 gallon tank, I never did like that aluminum tank that came with car. Used larger fittings also. Now I have a range of --say-- 250 miles? Looks better from rear also was able to raise tank about 2.5". Later, David.

KC, what was involved in building and installing your tank?

Bill, it wasn't too bad since I am a sheet metal worker. I built the new tank to hug the trunk floor and odd-shaped to make better use of the available space. As far as fabbing the tank, 2hrs to cut and shape pieces of 14ga. S/S at shop. Took the pieces home, 4hrs to fit and heliarc weld and finish. Another 6hrs to remove old tank, modify brackets, and install new tank and modify trunk floor. It does help to have a fully-equipped fab shop at your disposal.

Default West Coast cobras come stock with...

a 25 gallon fuel cell

This makes about a 240-250 mile cruise range
