Default Treating superformance paint

What are spf owners using to keep there paint in good shape. I have a waterless cleaner that seems to be donig a pretty good job. I guess it's really not an spf thing, but I believe all spf's have a similiar paint.

Hey Allen,

First of all congrats on your new SPF!

I'm a big Zaino fan. It's a polymer (non-wax) that bonds to the clearcoat to produce a very clear, deep (wet looking) and optically correct finish. I use it on all of my cars.

Here's a link to the Zaino's home page:

http://www.zainobros.com/

Since you in Northern Cal, here's the info to the Nor Cal distributor. Steve's a friend, so say HI if you contact him.

P.S. Are you going to Mini-Nats?

Zaino makes good stuff, I had a customer get mad at a car show because the most popular question asked of him was, "What kind of wax did you use?"

I treat my paint with bug guts - it's a car, not a trailer queen...

agro1,

I don't like the look you get with bugs all over the front. The multiple colors clash with the paint.
I use Zymol on my car. This stuff works great. Not cheap, but worth it. Doesn't take any effort to remove the residual wax. I use the creme, which is for light colored cars. If your car is dark, then use the carbon.

I've tried them all and Zaino Bros. is the best that I have found.

Hail Zaino Bros. I've been using it since they won a shootout using a"gloss meter". Go to their website and read about "claying" your paint prior to you first application. It really cleans the paint.

Have Fun,

Zymol is good stuff - I use it too. But to tell you the truth, any good wax will do - I really can't tell any difference. I use other stuff on my truck and can't really tell any difference. If you guys are waxing for a protectant I would suggest the clear plactic stuff they put all over the front. Just got mine put on and am very happy with it. Covers the whole front end, in front of rear tires and behind them as well underneath. I got my car for the track. Even though I race it and get it really dirty, I can't see the point in NOT protecting it with that stuff. It cost 320 bucks, including install and if I ever want to sell the thing I'll just peel it off and the car looks brand new. I just got 500 miles on it so I haven't had it at the track yet - can't wait...

Thumbs up In a word "Z A I N O"

I'm a 28 time concour winner when I owned my Porsche 911 Carrera and was involved with Porsche Club of America. All my awards came while I was using Zymol. Then I tried Zaino Brothers products after seeing a black Corvette at a local hot rod cruise in. Zymol's still good, don't get me wrong....but if you want the best, Zaino's the stuff. Easier to apply than Zymol...can do the whole car and then go back and polish the haze off - try that with Zymol! I'm a hardsell when I find something that works well. After using Zymol for so many years, I was reluctant to try Zaino...but, believe me, this stuff is the best I ever used.

...and not all SPF paints are the same. They used to use Glasurit paints, the same paint Porsche has used for years and years. Somewhere around car #700, SPF switched to PPG paints. Mine is #770 and it was painted with PPG.

Hope this helps....

Freddie,
I am going to take your glowing recommendations of the Zaino products and switch. If something happens to my paint, I am coming after you. I don't need much of an excuse to travel to TN anyways.

If I brought the car over, can you show me how it is done?

I have used Zaino and it is great. I have also used dry wash with excellent results. Infact I did my black truck in the middle of winter in my garage when it was covered w/ tons of road grime. When I was done it looked brand new. If you are interested in a dry wash try: www.waterless-wash.com

Talking Deal...Turk...!

You're on....! You buy the beers, I'll handle the waxin'....besides, I doubt very seriously your beauty could need much waxin'. It looked like a million at DVSF.2...can't imagine you'd let it go too long.

Besides...waxin' #770 is sorta like therapy for me anyway....cheaper than a shrink, always there waitin' for me, and seems to make be forget about the lousy couple of years I've had. Hmmmmmmm....maybe here's a new wrinkle .... Cobras in clinical psychology..

Wonder if I could get a government grant to study that...?
