Default Need info about front spacing for Team III wheels

I am interested in ordering a set of Team III Cobra wheels. I'm thinking about 7" for the front and 8" for the rear (They don't make 9" and 10" may be too wide). I have good information about correct backspacing but I need information about proper front spacing that work for a Classic Roadster. The car is in the paint shop and I thought this would be a good time to order since they take 3-4 weeks to build. Anyone know the proper front spacing for 7 and 8" wheels. Thanks, Chuck

cs69er...

I just went through this with Scott at Team III and had to order a second set for the rear as back-spacing was a little too close and tires rubbed the angled piece just behind the seat.....I didn't even think about that little angled frame piece!!!

I have 15x8's on front with Mustang II front end and 15x10's on back with a late model 8.8" Mustang rear (all 5 bolt pattern)......All works fine and clearance is not a problem now!!

Email me at coosawjack@charter.net and I'll give you the exact back-spacing and tire sizes as I'm not at home now and don't want to rely on my memory with something this critical!!!

BTW, Scott is great to work with and he even took the others back as they had the most common back-spacing as far as his orders go.....I think he is going to try and sell them for me.

Good Luck,
Coosawjack

Also have TeamIII 17's on CR, MII front, late 8.8 w/disks rear.

Front backspacing on 17" x 8" was 4". Puts wheel centerline right on wheel mounting face. Tires are 235/45ZR17. 4" backspacing was also used on OEM CR Cragar 15" wheels.

Rear backspacing on 17" x 9 1/2" was 5". Puts wheel centerline slightly inside wheel mounting face. (4 3/4" backspacing would have worked also, but before having everything mounted up, thought was it would be easier to shim wheel out if additional clearance was necessary). Rear tires are 275/40ZR17. Everything fits, looks, and works great.

If using standard mid '80's 8.8 Mustang rear, this should work. Starting in '94 or '95, Mustangs with OEM rear disks (SN95) were wider, and this may affect your rear backspacing requirements. Check with Don Scott on exact measurements if this is the case.
