Tim,
I use Royal Purple in my car. It is just as good as any of the high grade oils.
I spent a lot of time in Knoxville, (Oak Ridge), I was there on 9/11.
I am planning to retire in this area.
Somewhere around the Village. I like the area.

Hey Tim:
I use Redline MTL in my Tremec with good results! In the crankcase it's nothing but Mobil1. What does your transmission manufacturer recommend?

There is an extensive thread on this early this year
And it was pointed out that as far as engine oil, the "racing" version of the royal purple has no detergents, and will gum up your motor...so you need the street version. The racing version is better for anti scuffing but you should not use much, if you do, percentage wise.
Royal purple has some high marks in independant testing..and IF my car ever gets here, after break in, I will be using a mix of high and low viscosity Royal purple.

I highly recommend REDLINE lubes. Y&ou can feel the difference if you put redline ATF C+ in your tremec compared to GM synchromesh

Hot Rod TV did a segment on it and they got a few more rwhp just by switching, but I have seen dyno results similar to that with Redline. If I can find the site, a C4 vette dynoed at just over 7rwhp switching to Redline. I use Redline products and haven't found any reason to switch yet. Ditto to Mr. Fixit above.

With the Redline ATF C+ in your Tremec, can you grab second quicker? I am running Valvoline 90W and the shifts are very slow. It's hard not to grind second. Will the trans hold up with lightweight ATF in there?

Paul:
You are using the wrong lube. All modern manual transmissions use ATF. You probably ruined the syncros, that's why second gear grinds.

Thanks Jeff, I'll get some before the rally on the 28th. That should make it easier to kick the butt of my friend's Corvette, too.
