Jag Inboard Brake Upgrade
Thought this might be interesting to owners with jag rears, Sent my front knock-off hubs to Coleman racing products, they fabricated nice looking aluminum hats that accept their replaceable vented rotors and, I'll bet they can build this as well. Check it out.

Here's the vented rotor kit I have in my car:

Nice looking kit, with Colemans you have separate hats and rotors. You can replace the rotors for about $50 bucks each. I contacted CWI a while back looking to purchase camber shims, they were somewhat !cocky! so, I took my business elsewhere.

That's good stuff though I've not seen the underside of a Cobra look anything like that! That's a whole lot better than having a snorkel out the top of the rear to cool them. The front is easy to upgrade to bigger than Jag calipers with a Volvo 240 calipers.(Contemporary etc ) Just gotta know what fits what.

And whats wrong with a cool air snorkle? I had the CWI setup, used Wilwood 550 fluid, Dynalite calipers, PF racing pads and even special mica heat shields on the back of the pads and still lost the brakes in about 3 laps. Put in the snorkle (see pictures in gallery) and no more problem.
Cwi uses a Porsche rotor (when I got them). Have seen fabricated hubs and 12.19x.081 rotors used with a little clearanceing on the lower dogbone. Even they got overheated with out the air flow.

Here's a pic of the CWI vented rear brakes, as installed:
They have small aluminum hats, and it looks like the disks can be replaced "fairly easily"

Ooops, I knew I'd get somebody miffed. That's a functional set up not a good lookin one in my eyes. Did you try scooping air from underneath like the originals? Is that Dans red ERA with the scoop?

Mick
The air available under my car (very low) is mostly hot engine compartment waste. The originals had outboard brakes. There is one that shows up at SAAC meets with little scoops on the top of the fenders and big holes covered with screen in the back to let the hot air out into the low pressure area. The under-car scoops necessary to get any volume tend to be left in the weeds when I get a little over-exuberant. Besides, it's a race car and function is formost. I called it my homage to F5000. Outboards now, and the snorkle hangs in honor on the wall.
Yes, it's my ERA

Hi Don, I met you at the replica challenge last year. I was driving a 3 series and you caught me crawling (drooling) under your car. No doubt a very functional piece of equipment. What did you do to put the brakes outboard? I have put Corvette rotors on my Jag hubs (outboard) and still have to make caliper brackets. A bit here and a bit there. I'm inspired again had my first ride in a BB Contemporary recently.
Cheers Nick

This is what Don did.
Unfortunately you can't substitute the ERA hubs for the Jags. They are a different design.

Bob, did you mean it would be difficult to adapt rather than "can't"? Is that the Corvette caliper park brake unit ( made in Australia) !?

Mick,
Compared to the Jag, our hub carrier is almost an inch longer from the axle centerline to the lower pivot, and more than an inch wider at the wishbone mount. It's not built to take the stresses from a bottom-only mount. No room for tapered roller bearings either. You might check out Accurate Machine Products for a direct replacement.

I'm gonna have to work harder to get a rise out of you Bob, it's always good info though. Gonna check your weekend hours I'll be in Danbury this w/e. I'm putting the upper a-arms to mine anyways. Any good suggestions on a half shaft apart from TR's?
Apologies to pathenry for overruning the thread, it's all good stuff though.
Cheers Nick

Somehow I knew you'd work beyond posted hours. I'll see if that can be worked in to the plans.
Cheers
