I picked up a pair of spats at Snakepit Automotive in Freeport, New York and have them on for 18 months. They have saved me from many stone bruises and they still look new. They are removable and reasonably priced. If interested, call 516-771-8090 and ask for Bill or Nick. Bill is the northeast importer for the Superformance Rollers and Nick is the independent engine installer. Bill keeps a large inventory of SPF's in various colors. It is definitely worth a trip on a Saturday morning to see the sights.

Question Mr Fixit...?

Do you mean that removal will destroy the clear COAT ? (paint)

Or the film itself?

I had thought this 3M stuff was just static cling...maybe we are talking different materials...

Removal does not hurt the paint at all. Removal stretches the clear plastic film, making it less than likely to reinstall them as good as they were before you pulled them off. They start flat, take the curves of the body during install, and get stretched during removal. It is "static cling" but it also has a very mild adhesive on the one side, kinda like post-it notes glue.

Thumbs up Mr Fixit...

Thanks...sounds like what I want...the local body supply shop has a square piece good for at least two applications for about $90...so it is not too bad cost wise...certainly when the cost of chip repair comes in !

So I suppose that is what I want...thanks !

Don't forget the spray bottle of soapy water, a credit card wrapped in smooth cloth, and patience.

Arrow Stonegard

BIB;

I think this is what you may be looking for:

http://www.stongard.com/sgcontent/default.asp

Sold and installed by:

Stongard
1485 130th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98005
Phone: (425) 646-0670

I had my rear fender leading edges done by them (wish I had done the whole car at new). There is no need to remove for cars shows etc, as the material is almost invisible. If it really gets doinked, you take it in have it replaced. I also did my headlamps with another similar material that is a good 0.125" thick to prelcude rock damage.

All Bellevue and Seattle area exotic car dealers use these guys. I saw 2 new Ferrari, 1 new Porsche Carrera Turbo, various MB's, and a host of cars there from Park Place which is just down the street.
