Default 347 w/ webers cam selection

I'm looking into cams for a 347 w/ 10:2 compression.
Trickflow heads, port matched
Weber 48 IDFs

I'm thinking about this roller cam setup

Advertised Duration (Degrees): 286 intake/294 exhaust
Duration at .050 in. Lift (Degrees): 224 intake/232 exhaust
Camshaft Lift: .339 in. intake/.352 in. exhaust
Valve Lift with 1.6 Rocker Arms: .542 in. intake/.563 in. exhaust

Any comments? What cams are you using?

Exclamation

Neal,
I've read and heard before that it's best to stay away from split duration cam profiles in Weber applications. I don't recall what the exact reasons are, but I'm sure some of the other "Weber" guys can tell you. Then again, I was told "emphatically" that my cam had too much duration to work well with the 48 IDFs....

Engine Specs:
350 CI, 9.8:1, alum "D" port heads 1.94" I, 1.50" E

Hyd Roller Cam Specs:
Crank Dur @ lash point I/E 336 deg
Crank Dur @ .050 lift I/E 235 deg
Max lift w/1.5 rockers I/E .480"
Lobe centerlines 114 deg

Maybe the reason the 48 IDFs work well with my setup is that the chokes are rather small (34mm).

Mike

Hi Neal,
Sounds like a good Ford street cam. Motorsport cams have 112 degree centerline with good torque and top end, should be strong to 6,000 + rpm.The hard part of selecting a cam is not to go wild with it, unless it's a race only engine. The lift is getting up there, if you want your valve springs to last more than a couple seasons don't go any higher with the lift.I run a mild cam in my cobra as it gets you off the line faster on the street and you can live with the gas mileage.Bigger cams will make a few ponies more on the top end but I'm long gone by then.Your webers will have trouble with reversion if the cam has lots of overlap,I'd stay with the cam you selected. Love to see your Fourty! Good Luck.
Perry.
