Default Problem with Jaguar XJ6 rearend

I have a Contemporary Classic Replica. The rearend is a narrowed Jaguar XJ6. The problem is the right rear wheel has a .65 inch toe-in. Anyone know where I should look to solve the problem. I am also having a hard time greasing the joints.
Thanks for you help.

Do you have stock lower control arms?

Toe-in is controlled by the inner mounting points - the chassis holes and the rear tie bar. Unfortunately, with that much toe-in, I suspect that your problem is somewhere else. Probably a bent lower control arm.

I would bet that the problem is at the outer end of the right lower control arm. If the problem was at the inner end, the wheel would probably have to pivot forward to have toe-in. Check the outer pivot bolt and bearings on the right side too. Mine had a stripped front nut and the bolt backed out (to the rear) and allowed the wheel to toe in under power and out when coasting. Apparently the nut on the front of the pivot bolt must be fully bottomed out on the shoulder at the front of the pivot bolt in order for the bolt to properly position the upright/hub carrier.

Default Jag rear Toe In

Just as Bob Putnam pointed out I believe your problem stems from either the lower control arms being welded up improperly or a missing thrust washer! Shim stock is normally used on the rear mounting bolts of the Jag Fulcrum arm shafts to adjust Toe In. However 0.65" is way too much. Contemporary started shortening the Jag XJ6 and XJS Lower Control arms when the narrower Jag XKE pieces started to become scarce and expensive. These XJ6 & XJS Lower Control arms were shortened and rewelded in a gig at the Contemporary Factory. If yours were welded up by someone other than Contemporary I would be very suspect of these pieces. One other possibilty is that you maybe missing a thrust washer between the chassis crossmember and the lower control arm. These thrust washers are just over 1/8" in thickness and look like a large Fender washer. Check both sides of your crossmember where the pivot shafts go thru. Make sure these larger diameter Thrust washers are located on both sides. If you need to replace your Lower Control arms I can assist you by selling you a set of Billet Aluminum Lower Control arms.

Happy Holidays
