Default E-M Jag front conversion

I've got an older Everett-Morrison car that has Mustang II front suspension. I've already converted the rear from leaf spring to Jag IRS with the help of the nice people at E-M. They sold me the parts and sent me a set of blue prints.

Now I'm considering converting the front end to Jag, but E-M is no longer in business. Does anybody out there have a set of drawings/pics of the E-M Jag front end??? One of my other options is to take measurements from a friend's Contemporary frame, but that increases the possibility of error, and I would like the car to go down the road straight when I'm done.

Also any thoughts pro or con on the jag front end would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jon Miller

Default jag front end

If you decide to convert to the jag front end I have a set of pin drive hubs with brake rotors that I would be happy to pass on at a more than reasonable price...email me at jdeuel87@hotmail.com if interested

Thanks for the offer JD.

A friend of mine has a powder coated and chromed jag set up that he has offered to me dirt cheap. The only thing that I would need is a manual steering rack (the one he has is power), and maybe some torsion bars and shocks. His are MIA, or would that be MIG(Missing In Garage).

The guys I know using Jag front ends don't like the brakes too much. You may want to consider the Volvo caliper upgrade or similar. Good luck with the switch.
Cheers Nick

hi nick, i run the jag e tepe front end and am not all that nutty about it. setting camber has been a real battle and the stock single pot calipers are not much of a stopper, iwould definately
upgrade the brakes. whats wrong with the mustang setup? i have been told by a lot of people its the hot rodders parts of choice. karl

There is really nothing wrong with the MustangII setup. It's just that it's 2" too wide to work right with my Trigos, and it's UGLY.

I could spend $500 for a set of shorter control arms that would solve the problem of width, but also cause problems with handling.

There are hubs that I could get for $800 that would move the wheels in without changing the arm length.

Both of these solutions leave me with a stock spot welded Ford cross member that looks out of place in my highly polished, FE filled, engine compartment.......

It just seems that the proper thing to do is use British parts at the front that would better balance the Jag parts at the back end. The ready to run price is about the same as the MII setup, but it will look alot nicer, and should add to resale value.

I wouldn't count on "re-sale" value as ANY part of the reason to up-grade.

Handling? I don't think you'll gain much and could loose some. Stang II set up correctly would be as good or better, certainly easier to dial in.

Beauty\clean is a good reason, and can't hurt re-sale, I just don't think the "pay back" will be in-line with the "effort\expense" to convert.

Karl- if you have series III uprights, Wilwood calipers are a direct bolt on, you also get vented rotors. That's what I'll use if I go the Jag route.

Ernie- "properly Set-up" is the key. I was all ready to buy a set of the shorter arms when I got talked out of it. My source said that the short arms would be a very bad move on a car like the Cobra. As far as "re-sale" value goes, it's just another part of the equation for a guy that operates on limited funds......

Still looking for those E-M drawings.........

Thanks for the input!

It's always a tough call on what to do! You take the advice, filter it, and do what feels right to you in the end. Wilwood is a good call, on ANY front end!
