Side Pipe Clearance

How close is to close. Specifically the cut out, but while we're on the subject, how close to the body is to close? I'm talking fiberglass of course. thanks, Gman

Cut your sidepipe holes in a somewhat trapezoidal shape, leaving approximately 5/8th's to 3/4" inches clearance. Pipes should be spaced approximately 3/4 to 1 inch from body surface. Always leave yourself enough clearance to compensate for counterclockwise engine torque. Engine will torque driver's to passenger's side, opposite the rotation of the crank
Have a opening template taken from an original Comp Car...happy to send or fax it to you.

Even with clearance you can't let it set running in still air for long periods of time.Summer before last while tunning ,headers were so hot the front ankles of sweatpants melted to collecters,grass under engine an sidepipes was killed and paint cracked above the body exit . A big fan could really be usefull.
