Alum Panel - Anodizing Questions

I currently cleaning up my trunk and inner aluminum panels...
...need some tech info on anodizing.

What is the actual difference between hard anodizing and clear anodizing.

I'm looking to give the panels a vintage look, without a 'mirror' finish...but I also don't want to get a 'colorized' effect.

Although it may be hard to see the differences...any pictures?

Put carpet over them and forget it, before you become a head case with all the details.

Is it true that you got banned from 6 Cobra sites with questions just like the one you pose here?

Gentle reminder....You don't even have an engine yet! By the time you get the panels anodized and get the car completed it will be time to get them anodized again. My understanding the process only lasts 6-8 years. It has to be done again.

Hard anodizing is a case hardening treatment to make the outer surface harder where wear resistant properties are desired.

Clear is similar to paint. Protects the surface a little, basically cosmetic. Wont oxidize as quick as raw aluminum.

Call ERA and see what they have done to the aluminum they use. It has a satin finish and looks great.
