Default AK MKIV : original or replica ?

Over here in Belgium / EU is a dealer who is selling a Cobra AK MKIV - serial number AK1194 and built in 1987. The car has 0 km's (or miles) and is in original "as new" condition - Black exterior wit tan interior. Engine is a 302EFI.
For certain people it's an "original Cobra" for others its something between an original Shelby and a replica !?
The man who sells the car told me that by the end of february the Cobra must be gone! For the moment he has an offer of 50.000 euro (that's about the same amount in $).
I'd like to know some of you guys opinions about a MKIV.
Is it worth to spend that amount of money(or even more)?
As far as I know there was a production number of 357.

Thanks for any information on this subject,
Luc

I understand that the Mk IV's were Angliss's production and were done quite well. I wouldn't ever call it an original, but it was the closest thing to an original in that era. Angliss had Ford support for these cars and had spent a considerable amount of time restoring them. If I remember correctly, (alway a questionable assumption), he had some ownership connection to AC at that time?? Maybe an expert can correct me on this.

Great car and a good price, but lose the 302 and drop a 427 SO in it to make it better.

Hope this helps.

Keith

The Mark IV was a nice car...had some subtle and some not-so-subtle but noticable "modernizations".

$45-80k is the range I have seen them offered at recently.

Is it 'original'? ...depends.
It certainly is an Original Autokraft.
With the Cobra name legally licensed, it is indeed a Cobra.

Nothing, though, is an original Shelby Cobra unless it spent some time in L.A. during the sixties.

...anything else is a post-era facsimile.
