Default Alum Mfg Expansion Tank for FE

Last night I noticed my expansion tank was starting to seperate at the top seams. These original expansion tanks work just fine except they are just too OLD! And to be honest I think they are just pretty darn ugly.

Does anyone know of someone that will make me an aluminum expansion tank for an FE Engine similar to the original except with the inlet on the drivers side? I want something a little more durable than the brass tanks I am using now.

Thanks,

Clois

Dove used to make a cast aluminum FE tank, maybe they still do.

Steve I think they still do but I am pretty sure the radiator hose connects to the passenger side of the tank. I would love to have a dove expansion tank that has the radiator hose connect to the drivers side. My radiator is a chambered cross flow and was special made with top and bottom radiator hoses on the drivers side. This radiator has really helped my cooling problems.

Thanks,

You can specify which side, i.e. driver or passenger, with Dove. I have their cast aluminum tank on my small block with the passenger side hookup. A lot of modifications to get it to fit the small block but it looks pretty good with my cast valve covers and air cleaner. There's a really bad picture of it in my album. Pricey at about $350.00

Cool Expansion Mansion

That's what they call my garage!! On my third tank this summer (3 installs per tank) I called Dove. Knew they had made some I had seen, and also heard they were hard to get. The guy asked me which side for the inlet. When I told him what I wanted, he said that he had 1 for the other side, none like I wanted. Asked him if I could order one and when....he said "I have no idea"!!!

Buy a new replica type and have it professionally assembled!!!!

Yes it is a kit......not real!!

I had no problems at all, but their factory is about 1/2 hour away from my shop... went there at lunch and picked it up. When I was there this summer, they had about 30 castings on the shelf, but they were unfinished.

They are pretty casual over there - have about 2-3 people in the office on any given day. Took me a few minutes just to find somebody. Nice people though, I got the feeling that the expansion tanks are not a big mover for them.

Dan,

Do you have their telephone number? I will call them today if you do. I seem to have lost their number.

Clois,
Why do you have the inlet and outlet on the same side? Just curious.

Default It's your lucky day

Clois:

I have a Dove aluminum expansion tank, which has already been converted for the driver side takeoff, which I purchased a few years ago and then found it will not fit unde the hood of my ERA. If you're interested, drop me an e-mail.

I made my own from 5052 alum. sheet 1/8 th. Billet fill neck. Inlet,
outlets exactly where I wanted them. Looks beautiful. Also made
all my own sheaves, remote oil adaptor, filter manifold and bracket. All from solid chunks of 7075 alum. Oh and my fuel tank as well, 5052 sheet, welded inside and outside. Holds 17 gal. and
has trap doors per ERA specs found here on Club Cobra. Dan

Default Maybe?

I was on the Gessford web site the other day and saw some listed.

Check this link

http://www.gessford.com/cobraparts/fmisc.htm

Also I know that Finishline sells one that you would probably have to modify.

Regards,
Mike
