Engine build question
Help engine builders. Let's assume there are 4 different engines, a 396 Chevrolet, a 392 Stroked Chevrolet Small Block, a 392 Stroked Windsor, and a 390 FE. Given the EXACT same head flow numbers, cam figures, manifolds, and carburetors, is it safe to assume that all four would make the same amount of power ? I understand there will be differences in rod length and reciprocating mass and such but that should only be +/- a few HP and Torque. I've been a small block guy for the last 20 years and I don't want to fall into that bigger is better trap that I am finding myself getting closer to. I've done all the Desk Top Dyno numbers but I would like to hear from those with practical experience. Thanks.
