Default Painting Stripes COLOR questions

Hey guys,

I am looking for a way to create "chrome-looking" racing stripes . I don't want to use decal/sticker material... I want something that will last.. I live in South Carolina, and eventhough my car is garage kept,.. the sun is GRUELING on paint... even for only hours.
Someone suggested spraying straight Metallic, But I don't think that will produce the desired effect. I am looking for Bright-Works Chrome-looking .... Rip your eyes off... Mirror..... Stripes .... any suggestions????
All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Ron,
With todays technology in paint development, that type of chemistry does not exist. I work for the largest paint company in the world and we can only come up with a aluminum effect. The manufactor that we buy our color-shifting flake has been working on this concept for some time but has had no real sucess. Sorry for the news but it is the truth. No paint manufactor to the best of my knowledge has a chrome basecoat.

Actually, there may be some hope, although creating a stripe may be difficult. Metal Morphous makes a spray-on coating that can be polished to look very much like chrome. They do the stuff in house, so I don't know whether they sell their materials for use by private parties.

No web site, but a phone number: 203-294-2352

Just mask off where you want the stripes and leave the aluminum bare there. hehe

Mr.Fixit :
Don't I wish.....

Bob:
Thanks I will definately give them a call.

I've received several e-mails about the concerns of bright reflections off a chrome stripe. I can see where that could be a problem, but I sit pretty low on the car, (I am 5' 8") and was looking today.... That may not be a problem for me.
