Default 351W fireing order??

Just wanted to varify the firing order for the 351 W. I have to books and they say different things. Is the correct order 13726548 counter clockwise? Also is it from the front of the car on the passanger side back 1234 and 5678 from the front on the drivers side back. Thanks in advance.

351W firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

Passenger side is 1,2,3,4 (front to back) and driver's side is 5,6,7,8.

Here's a chart from Summit Racing: Firing Order Chart

If you have a cam for a 302 then your firing order will be different. The 302HO has the 351 firing order. Jim

Cam determines the firing order. Most people who build 289/302 engines often use 351W performance camshafts; thus the 351W firing order is required in those engines.

Firing order for 351s is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. But, if an early 302/289 cam is used, it's 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, otherwise revert back to the 351 firing order. If you're not sure check valve action. Turn the crank so #1 is on TDC of the firing stroke while watch the valves, then turn it 90 degrees more and watch the valves for #3 and #5 valves. Pick the one that moves the same as the #1 intake valve as it was moving when the crank was coming up on TDC for #1.
