Question Vortec Supercharger

I can pick up a used Vortec belt driven supercharger for my stock efi 302 powered project for around $500 . I'd like a little more power than the stock engine offers, And this seems a common deal in Mustangs. . Any experiences or opinions on them? Any advice on what I should look for when talking to the guy about the setup?? Thanks PA

What do you get for the $500-?

If you get all the mounting accessories, brackets, blower pulley, crank pulley, etc, you're getting a great deal.

If it's JUST the blower, while $500- still sounds reasonable, you'll be chasing the extra parts for a while. You could buy each individual part brand new from Vortech, but the sum of the accessories would likely be more expensive than buying a complete brand new A-Trim assembly from them.

Turn the impeller inside the blower, and see if it spins nicely - doesn't make any squeaks that might prove to be a bad bearing. Remember that vortechs are gear driven inside, so you will feel the tiniest bit of resistance when you turn the impeller.

Good luck!
