Michael,
I was new to fuel return lines too when I installed my 5.0 EFI engine. It was no big deal. I simply ran it along beside the feed line and into the top of the tank. I did have a nipple welded onto the tank for this. It goes in at the top and just rains down into the tank. With the fuel pump on but the engine off you can hear it splashing into the tank. Because it is low presure, leaks have not been an issue. I do use braided line up in the engine compartment but that is for looks. For what it's worth I do have the tank vented to a charcole canister which was all OEM from the 91 wreck the origional block came from.
Perhaps some of the more expewrienced engine guys can add to this but it has worked fine for 5 seasons, over 20,000 miles.
