American Collectors Ins.
Has any one ever done business with them before or had to file a claim?
They just gave me a policy that seems to good to be true. ( I hope it is legitimate)

Mike, I have them. Luckily, I have not had to file a claim with them yet. I have spoke with them several times and they seem to be very professional. They have limited mileage 2500 and 5000 miles but their rates are very reasonable.

I have had a policy with them for 11 years on my '65 Vette. The policy is not set up for a daily driver, but for someone who puts less than 2000 mi/year. There are a lot of details on the policy...so read the fine print. They would not insure my cobra because it was not factory built. I have never filed a claim with them. Good luck! Len

I've used them for a number of years. I totalled a 60 Rolls that was insured for $20,000. It was my fault. Brakes failed as I came to a stop sign and I rolled out in front of a 3/4 ton truck. I was very pleased with the way they handled my claim. I still have my Cobra and a 52 Chevy Hot Rod insured with them. They raised my rates after the accident but it's still very reasonable.

Mike-
I also got a very reasonable quote from them- reasonable even for NJ.
With respect to the 2500/5000 mile issue, I was told the following: Their standard policy is for 2500 miles. However, it is possible to get the limit bumped to 5000 miles if you can demonstrate to them a valid reason why you need the increased mileage. For instance, if you belonged to a lot of clubs or attended a lot of car shows, you might be able to get the 5000 mile limit- in any event, you would need to send a letter to them explaining why you need the extra miles.

When I looked for insurance on an MG I contacted an agent who was a member of the local British car club and this is who they recommended of the companies that they could have written it with.
They seem upfront to deal with but never had a claim.
Rates seem reasonable .

I got a quote from them that was reasonable if I only looked at the premium amount. However, their liability coverage amounts are pretty thin by today's standards if you own anything of value that a blood sucker would want to pursue. Most people who can afford a Cobra replica, and perhaps another toy car or two, plus a home, plus any kind of savings/IRA/whatever, and so on, isn't going to get much protection from $100k/$250k. Most discussions on this forum don't seem to address anything but premium amount, mileage, and possible agreed value, while deductible, and other coverage amounts are never compared.

Mike, they start you out with 2500 miles for the first year but if you go over then they stated I could get it bumped up to 5000.

I have them at a very reasonable price. Start at 2500 but can go highter. I had less of an initial problem because I was transferring over from another ins company.
