It depends, there are two different styles of Smiths tachs I have seen in cobras. One needs the MSD tach adapter, as well as a large discoidal capacitor inline with the tach signal wire. The other type works fine just connecting the tach output lead from the 6AL directly to the tach. Try hooking it up from the tach output on the 6AL directly tothe tach, just you would with any tach. If that doesn't work, get the capacitor free from MSD. If those two don't do it, get the $30 tach adapter box from MSD. Or just call MSD's tech support and deal with them. The second type of Smith's tach referred to here has a single multi-wire connector, the first type has a couple of single wire connectors.
