Question Shelby Dual Quad Intake SFJD9425E

Can someone tell me what car this originally came on?
Shelby SFJD9425E small block dual quad high rise intake manifold.

I aquired it years ago from my brother in-law and its been collecting dust since then. I'm possibly interested in selling to the right person in need.

It may not have come on a car. During the '60's and early '70's a bunch of Shelby hardware was sold through the Ford parts system as well as Shelby itself. I purchased one of the 2-4 versions (early style) that used 2 AFB's and ran it on a '65 Hi-Po fastback I had in the late '60's. I liked it a lot, nice power transition and reasonable mileage when I kept my foot out of it.

Default dual quad intake

No small blocks, either in a Shelby Mustang or a Cobra, came from the factory (Shelby American) with dual quads. 1967 GT500's (428's) had dual quads, and a fair number of big block Cobras (427's & 428's) came with dual quads, but that's about it.

Woodz428 is correct - what you have is an aftermarket part distributed by Shelby through one of several parts catalogs issued late 60's-early 70's. If it's mint, I'd guess it'd be worth somewhere between $500-$1000, depending on who you talk to.

Sounds like just the ticket to make that small block scream.

Technically, all 427 according to Shelby came with a single four and the 428's came equipped with the dual's.

Doug D:

One small correction to your statement regarding the dual quad set up not coming from SAI in the Cobra or the Shelby Mustang. The Factory offered, as an option, the 2X4bbl. induction system on the DragonSnake which was the Basic Stage II Engine that was, and is, still found in the NHRA bible classification system. That engine was rated at 300 h.p. and the car was listed at $7,495.00; dealer allowance of $6,495.00

That option was available to the general public in DS form.

OK. I stand corrected. A few Dragonsnake Cobras came with the dual quads. I guess I should have known not to type "No small blocks came...with dual quads." Nothing is absolute, and I know better than to use the words Always or Never.

I can't remember - how many Dragonsnakes were produced? Seems like just 2 or 3. I suppose the intake could be off of one of those.

Thanks for the info guys.

Where would be a good place to put this piece up for sale?
Should I post some pics of it on here?
