Default Expansion Tank Question--Please help

Greetings,
Does anyone know if the square tags on Cobra radiator expansion tanks are being reproduced? The late 289 Cobras had a metal expansion tank that is different from the FE (big block) expansion tanks typically found on Galaxies of the period. Was the Cobra expansion tank a one-off? Is anyone selling/reproducing it?
Many thanks,
Alan in So.Cal.

I believe you are referring to the corvette Harrison aluminum tanks use in 289 cars. They are available through cobra restorers in atlanta and other vendors(finish line). chuck

Dear ENTDOC,
No, the expansion/surge tank I'm referring to is a brass tank that is similar but not identical to the tanks on 390 Ford motors. The latter tanks had the thermostat housing as part of the tank, whereas the 289 Cobras used the normal thermostat housing bolted to the motor.
Thanks for your reply,
Alan in So.Cal.

Default Street 289 Cobra expansion tank

I think THIS is the tank you are looking for.....

It has a smoother top, as opposed to the one used on 427/428 Cobras that had a higher top with ribs in it.

I believe the smooth top one came from earlier T'Birds & Lincolns (like around '61-'62 models), as opposed to the ribbed big-block one from mid-sixties model T'Bird & Lincolns.

regards,

cobrajeff
