Time was I could take T-10's apart in my sleep. The T-5, even with a shop manual in one hand is a little tricky. Eventually brought it to a trans shop for synchros and bearings.
For any used T-5, have it rebuilt by a trans shop, and have the T5Z close ratio gearset, and steel TO bearing retainer installed. Unless you're running stock Mustang 2.74 rear gears, the gearing in the T5 is all wrong for a Cobra running 3.55's or thereabouts. You'll fell like you're driving a mid '60's VW instead of a Cobra. Also, any used T5 will have some baggage you really don't want to install in your new Cobra.
