Street Beast
HI, ANY ONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT STREET BEAST KIT , GOOD OR BAD, THANKS TMAN0950**)
|
Unless they have made changes, this is one tough kit to build. Nowhere near a "Bolt together" kit.
|
THANKS DAVID FOR THE INFO, TMAN0950
|
CALL THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE OF FLORIDA!
And do it now! They are under direct guidance of the ATG, and have been for some time. However since their rebirth into the kit car world I haven't heard any complaints. ??? DV... DO your research! |
TMAN0950
Have had no problems with mine. Have been getting suspension parts from local speed shops. It is one of the lower dollars kits but a lot of fun to drive. Have purchased some add on extras from Shell Valley because of price and easy access, they are very nice people also. Have fun with which ever one you choose. Jim |
having known the company for many years, I highly suggest you do as DV has stated above...................Let the buyer beware..............................
|
Everyone of the above is correct. When you do your search also search CMC...

THANKS GUYS I WILL LOOK INTO IT, I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD KNOW SOMETHING. THANKS AGAIN, TMAN0950

I am in the process of building one of their kits and so far have no major complaints. I became involved when they were CMC and almost lost my $1000 deposit when they went belly up. Since the new start up I recovered my deposit money and have received the first part of my kit, since I am doing the staged delivery. I must say their technical department is very helpful and always ready to try and solve any problems. I visit their site each time they come to the TRR or Spring Show at DIS and make myself "Known" to any and all company reps.. I know and realize they may not be the best out there but with their staged delivery and lower price I felt they were the way to go. And by the way, I know of "NO" complaints with the State since the revamp, either. Thanks, and Safe Flyin, oppsss, I mean Drivin, Earl

I'm glad to hear a few good comments about the new operators and company. Maybe they are finally getting their stuff together.
|
I bought a kit from them when they were Classic Motor Carriages (CMC). It is a TOUGH kit. I'm a mechanic I work on cars or a living, and it took me almost 3 years to build, since nothing (headlights, doors, hoo, hood scoop) were cut out. That and they didn't send half the parts. There was a civil suit against them, and we got 500 bucks outta it, but to me, it wsn't worth it.

thanks everyone i am going to stay away from them. tman0950

Street Beast Build
Cant understand how you can say it's a tough kit
to build when their body, floor pans, firewall and rear wheel wells are all molded together!!! That's 70% of the work of building a car! Look at other reps suchs as B&B, ERA and others where you have to glue all the exterior sections of the body, the floor panels, wheel wells, firewall, etc BEFORE you can do any mechanical.....give me a break....and Street Beast is a 'tough kit'??? Not to say that things were different under CMC... but that was a LONG time ago.....and Street Beasts, though I hate the name, is a whole different animal. |
My shell valley came with the body assembled with the trunk in, doors and lids with hinges installed and the suspension installed.

Fly4val,
I am not trying to start anything here but I am not sure you should be busting Decobraman's balls about whether or not his kit was tough since he has actually built his and you have not even recieved yours. now I realize that you are excited about the mfg. you chose as most people are but you might want to reserve judgment until yours is actually on the road. I do hope that street Beasts is on the straight and narrow now because their coupe looks pretty interesting. But their track record is not too good so most of the guys here (including myself )will be a bit skeptical until they have proven themselves Please continue to give us updates on your build and I do hope it goes well. Have a good one, Dan |
fly4val ,
Me thinks you need to get your facts straight on the competition. |
Fly4val,
Well, you are absolutely wrong about gluing in panels in on "most kits" . But, I do hope that your build goes well. Keep us posted please. DV...I have built numerous kits of theirs- there's another thread concerning street beast going on now. Take a gander at that one. |
Dont know it all...that's for sure
Hi guys....you're right in that not all the other
reps have glue in panels; however, the one that I had in mind is one from B&B that I just saw on T-3's website. It definitely had lots of panel assembly/glueing. BTW I do make mistakes..which is more than I can say for my German ex-wife.... ;-) I recently looked at a really neat brochure from FFR which apparently contains about 40 panels that have to be rivited or welded or assembled in some manner....this may have been where the balance of my thought comes from in that area....and frankly that is more work than I am interested in doing at this point, especially as I have no place to keep it or work on it...yet. Mr DV....I was seriously thinking of contacting you about turning my coupe into a roller and ship it to me here in Colorado. However, your several comments, all negative led me to reconsider someone closer to home. I obviously, dont have the years in the biz as you do and am sure that you have many good points. I am still of the opinion that it is a different company now and that seems to be supported by comments from some of the current builder/ owners. I think its great that you try to caution newbies on car vendors....however, I'm of the belief that they are not the bad old guys.....I could be wrong but time will tell in the next 60-90 days. I'll be happy to post my findings when I visit the factory again next month..or Feb at the latest and then will update the forum of how it goes....I'm a member of Mile Hi Cobras and will be doing a periodic update on our website once my car arrives and starts progressing. Thanks for the thoughts and bon mots...Val |
Val,
I truly, truly, wish you all the luck in the world. It will be most interesting to follow your build. If you do have any troubles that we may be able to help with, please don't hesitate to call. DV...DeJavu...I certainly hope not! |
Some people just like a real challenge. If he turns this into a winner, then he has proven his skill and talent.
