Just found this thread today... specially interesting because I am trying to dial in my carbs.
The dyno sheet on my motor lists 120 lbs/hr to 180 lbs/hr over an rev range of 4000-5500rpm. At the corrected HP, this translates to .4 to .5lbs/hr per unit of HP which is consistant with the formulas listed above.
But what is the relationship between gals/hr and pressure. Holley tech support has told me that my electric fuel pump (red) puts out 4-5lbs typically (even though their literature says 7lbs pressure), at 97 gal/hr.
What is the relationship of flow and pressure?
Can we get sufficient flow but not at enough pressure - or the other way around? I think the Holleys want about 5.5lbs and I guess that I need between 20 and 28.8 gals/hr (minimum).
I'm starting to think that I need a higher pressure fuel pump and regulate it down to about 5.5lbs. Experiencing slight stumble at highway speeds and a quick (2-3 second) racing of the engine when I come off the highway ramps to a stop. Probably float levels are messed up.
