Default Engine wire runs

Since I have to redo a good deal of the wiring anyways, I thought I would take this oportunity to get the wire loom off the top of the intake manifold.

What I am looking for is for those of you that have run your wiring 'down under', where did you run it, attach it and what did you do to protect it.

Thanks

Rick

Rick,

What part of the loom goes over the manifold? I just reran all of mine last week and whats left on the manifold is the wire to the alternator, the MSD distributor, and a large bundle going to my Holley FI system (no moving that). The other wiring I ran against the fire wall, down beside the bellhousing and attached it to the side of the transmission.

Rick,

I have a MSD ignition mounted behind the dash on the passenger side. All my wiring runs down the area on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel then goes under the engine and around the front of the oil pan area and up underneath the water pump. So you see nothing on top of the engine. I used the oil pan studs to hold my metal/rubber aircraft type clamps. Had to ream out the holes for a 5/16" stud, wanted to use the clamp that did the job but not too big. You can make your own studs if you have bolts in the oil pan, just use 5/16" allen screws that are about 1 1/4" long and double nut them with washers, you will need 4 or 5 of these. I ran the wiring inside a 3/8" wiring loom then ran 1/4" loom up to the coil and water temp. sending unit. The MSD harness to the distributor was run seperately. I did have to buy an extra piece of MSD harness which was available at a local Speed Shop. Makes a real clean engine compartment. With a solid lifter engine you benifit from it as there are no wires to mess with when your pulling valve covers.

Thanks Rick. I was kicking around the oil pan but just want to hear what other had done.

The wires are for the alternator and ignition.
