Default How do I submit a picture???

Will someone please tell me in plain language how to submit a picture? I'd like to send some pictures to the various Photo Gallery categories from my computer's hard drive but I have no idea how to start or what to do next. I can push the keys on the keyboard but I haven't the faintest idea what all the computer acronyms mean so if you're willing to offer me an explanation, please make it simple.

The following was recently posted on CC but it doesn't seem to address what I'm seeing:

1. right click on picture you want to post OK

#2. click on "properties" OK

#3. when the "properties" window comes up, highlight and copy the url that is displayed NO WINDOW, JUST A DESCRITPTION OF THE PICTURE, NO URL DISPLAYED

#4. then go to the post that you want to post the picture in and hit the "IMG" button. CAN’T FIND IMG BUTTON ON ANY OF THE POSTS

#5. a box will appear for typing in the location of the picture and paste the url that you copied into the box. HUH???

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Lowell...take a look at this little "how-to"...see if it answers your questions....

How to Upload Photos to Club Cobra Photo Gallery

From the Main Forum Home Page, click on "Visit our photo gallery"

In the above right, on top of the Blue band with the title "Club Cobra Photo Gallery", click on "Upload Photos"

Your username should appear on the first line; if not, you're not logged in.
Next choose a category with the drop-down button. Select "Club Cobra Member Galleries"

Next, select the photo ON YOUR HARD DRIVE that you want to upload.
Let's say you have a picture called CAR.JPG in a folder on your drive called JUNK.
Hit the "Browse" button and navigate to C:\JUNK and click once on CAR.JPG to turn it blue and then hit the Open button.

(Note that the picture should be a JPEG ...ending in .jpg...and should be smaller than 200k.
You can check the size of any file on your system by navigating to the file, right-click on the icon and select Properties. That will reveal the size in K-bytes. Optimum size of pictures should be ~70k. If you have, for example, a 1-meg picture from a digital camera...or a .BMP file from a scanner...the image file will have to be changed, resized or converted by any picture-editing program BEFORE you can upload it.)

Next, keep it simple... Enter a short title and a brief Photo description in the appropriate boxes.

Finally, hit the Upload/Submit button at the bottom and you're done.

Repeat the process for subsequent picture, understanding that all members have a quota that limits the total file area available for uploads.

To include a picture in a post, first go and view that picture in full size in the Gallery. Point to the desired full-sized picture and right-click, then select Properties. Note in the middle of the Properties Window there is Address (URL). Highlight the entire address, right-click on the highlight and select Copy.
Then, when you start a post that you would like to include that photo..at the point you want the photo to appear, depress the IMG button in the control panel area above the big gray Reply Box... a pop-up will appear with "http://" in blue. Just point to that phrase, right-click and select paste. That will insert the URL of your image. Say OK and the photo is now imbedded in your post.

If you still have problems...let me know.

Ron,

What if the picture we want to include in the post/thread is not in our photo gallery but on our hard drive?

Stu

...as long as the file is less than 40k in size and is a jpg, jpeg, gif or bmp.. you can "attach" the file, using the Attach File option, just below the area where you type in the post.
Hit the Browse button and locate the file on your hard drive and hit open... that will attach it to your post.

...and, remember, only one attachment per post.

Ron,

OK...I can't find "Visit Our Photo Gallery". I can find "Club Cobra Gallery", "Cobra Gallery" and a tab for "Gallery", all of which take me to "Welcome to the Club Cobra Photo Gallery" but nowhere do I see "Upload Photos" when I get there.

It's late here but I'll check again tomorrow.

Thanks,

Lowell

OK: I got to the screen you showed me above. I didn't realize I had to LOG IN on the Gallery page (or whatever) to get to that page even though I had already logged in to CC.

Gotta go put some people to sleep; I'll take another whack at this later.

Thanks,

Lowell

OK, Ron, I followed the directions you gave me and everything seemed as you said but I got a "fatal error greater than 60 seconds" message. I tried this with two different pictures, both smaller than 200k.

Now what?

Thanks,

Lowell

Are you on a dial-up connection? ..or broadband (cable/DSL)?

On a dial-up, uploading a 200k pic, you may have timed out.
..? never saw that before, but...

As a test, try to upload a much smaller pic to your Gallery, like 50-60k.

I'm on a dial-up. OK, I'll try something smaller. Maybe tomorrow...

Thanks,

Lowell
