Question Knock Detectors

HEY, GUYS - - -

MY ERA COBRA HAS A 427 SIDE OILER THAT I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM KNEW EVEN LESS. IT'S HOT, IT'S FAST, IT'S STRONG AND IT RUNS (MOST OF THE TIME).

I BELIEVE THE COMPRESSION RATIO IS IN THE AREA OF 12:1 MAYBE 13:1. WITH VIRTUAL STRAIGHT PIPES I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING BUT THE EXHAUST SOUND. SWEET AS IT IS THERE'S NO WAY I COULD EVER HEAR IT PINGING OR KNOCKING. I ALWAYS MIX TWO GALLONS OF CAM-2 WITH EACH TANKFUL BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH.

I KNOW THAT SOME OF THE NEWER SMALL BLOCKS HAVE "KNOCK DETECTORS". IS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN BUY, BUILD, (I'M NOT BEYOND STEALING) AQUIRE A KNOCK DETECTOR FOR A 427 S/O/.

ANY THOUGHTS, SUGGESTIONS, IDEAS, ETC. WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS, AND, Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

BLACKJACK

BlackJack

Take a look at this. I think you'll like it. I have had one on a couple of supercharged engines and it works extremely well. Just keep the knock sensor away from the headers.

There is also a knock detector sold by MSD that I was thinking of getting.
Go to www.msdignition.com and do a search for "engine knock alert"
