Default 302 valve clearance ??

I have a 302 (not 5.0) with the mid 70s dished pistons. I am currently running a Crane cam with .488 lift with 1.6:1 roller rockers. I want to throw on some 1.7:1 roller rockers. This will bring my valve lift to .518. Anyone know if this will be OK? Should I worry about piston to valve clearance? The springs on the Edelbrock heads are not an issue.

thanks in advance
Ed

You will have to check. And you can do this with the heads on. Get some of those wimpy valve clearence checking springs and put them on. Set up a dial indicator and measure clearence both sides of TDC for a ways on both strokes. From there you will know how much clearence you have now and how much more lift you can tolerate. Seems to me you want to stay above .08 on the intake and .1 on the exhaust.

A 302 is a 5.0?
