Hi Rick,
Here's one source:
CWI's u-joints
I don't doubt that it's a readily available item. Perhaps Mike can give you the info.
These guys don't list them but if you contact them I'd bet they have a good recommendation:
Classic Jaguar in TX
Let us know what you end up with!
Regards,
Tom

Rick - don't know what's available in the 'states, but here, you can get several "grades" of UJ for the jag rear end. They are all, so far as I know, std Hardy-Spicer items, but there definitely are upgrade items over stock available. That's what went into my car, anyway. I stopped upgrading just short of beefier yokes.
Tip - when fitting the outboard ones, make sure you fit an angled grease nipple facing inboard, so that you can get a grease gun onto them, A standard "vertical" nipple makes this impossible as the UJ is shrouded by the hub carrier casting once fitted.

u joints
Rick,
My Jag E type half shafts use Presision Universal Joint
Corp # 330. The drive shaft takes Pression # 429.
Hope this helps.

Good info so far. I was definiatly interested in what is the toughest ones out there............. ecspecially taking into account what happens when one brakes!
I wonder what Unique put in there all those years ago? I am assuming they have not been changed since the car was built (nearly 18 years).

We've found Spicer 5-160X to be the best available in the US. Too many of the others have excessive clearance.

Rick,
That's strictly the Jag half-shaft. The X designates a grease fitting, by the way.

Thanks again Bob. I notice that the 5-160X is standard GM fair. I think I need 5-153X for the driveshaft (toploader).
Any of the major retailers such as NAPA, Carquest etc stock Spicer parts?

I was able to pick a set up a NAPA a year ago.

Rick,
Just had a set of the Spicer 5-160x units put on. According to the Jag specialist I was working with, they are the best. "Lots of other parts will give out before these units do".

Rick,
Ask around at local places that make drive shafts. The joint is fairly common on trucks.
