Morris,
Man, you have great sense of perspective. I will PM you Pat's info offline. Read Carroll Smith's book "Prepare to Win" the last few days while out on business travel. Made it to Chapter 2. He sure knew a lot.

Thanks for the info.... I guess experience is good for something.... sure did fight it when I was younger.... but now it seems to help me more often than not....
Carroll Smith's book is a great book for those of us that like to read books that allow you to learn ......and why you do the things you do.... Read Carrolls book and Smokey's book back in early 80's and they still apply today....
Probably need to reread them..... especially since I'm in a airplane all of the time....
Thanks again

Why do I have the suspicion these casual "parade" laps would of course open with the wave of a green flag, and end with a checkered one?

Morris,
Why don't you just get the Kirkhams to make the tank and fit it.
They do work with alloy a bit you know and have cars sitting about to fit to.
And there is certainly nothing magic about designing a dry sump tank.
I will bet that one of the brothers there know how to do it and you should a get very nice unit from them.

You know that's a great idea..... that's why many minds are much better than one.....
I'll ask Dave and Tom to add Dry Sump tank to their options list.... and see if it's a possibility....
Seems like Aviaid has all of the pump and snout drive.... so the tank is the only part that needs fabricating... and they are in the business of building cars...
TC....
Just because I had the Track Record for C/P, GT-2, and GT-1 .... what makes you think that ......
I'm really glad that the motors are much bigger now...... especially since I added some extra weight to the Drivers side of the car..... I'll need 700 HP.... maybe by the time I get the car built.... the motors will be even higher....
Because the gym sure isn't taking it off.....

Just to show you how the network works. Turk calls me from Provo...he and Tom Jr. are looking for some sidepipe brackets that Pat had (supposedly) put in the box with the differential he sold Tom...puts Tom on. I put Tom on hold and call Pat at home to see if maybe they fell out. Pat asks me to ask Tom for Dralles' number so he can give it to you.
Never found the brackets, but what an expensive and complicated 411 call.
If Pat forgets to give it to you, e-mail me.

Morris-
I forwarded the number to you - remember to call him in the MORNING - and make sure you let him know that you are a real racer as he has a pretty cranky attitude with wannabes.

Morris, I've been beating David up over a dry sump tank. He said I was the only one asking, but would look into it. Call and rattle his cage.

Pat and Tom
Is Dave Dralle the only guy that makes a dry sump tank for a cobra????
I wouldn't think so.... but I'm new to this....

I suppose you could ask Mike McCloskey (sp?) if he would do it.
I know Dralle does and I am sure that Stef's or someone like that could make one for you if you supplied a pattern. When I called them they seemed very eager to do one.
Ideally you would have a car available while making the tank for fitting purposes.
Why don't you just give Dralle a call Monday AM? His tanks are around $6-800 and great quality - and they fit.

Other than looking very trick, are there any benefits to dry sump system on a street car? Any drawbacks?

You bet I'll be on the phone Monday A.M. and see what we can find out....
Lew
Among the obvious.... like no oil starvation in corners.... or sucking the pan into a vacuum mode.... or spinning the pump to get oil pressure before you fire the motor.... or consistant oil pressure......more road clearance...... better windage tray.....
And the most important one..... no load on the distributer gear.....
I'm sure there's more I'm just not thinking of them....
And in many years of using Dry Sump Systems.... we never had a problem with the belt....
