Seat Heater
Has anyone installed the "cobra heat" seat heater product as advertised on this site? (also if anyone has experience with Pi-thon hoses and clamps) If so, please forward your experience.
Thanks,
Jong

I installed a set from a different supplier, but they look to be the same heaters. I installed them two weeks ago and they work great. I do not have a regular heater and so far the seat heaters supply enough heat to stay comfortable. I know they make my wife smile.

How are these seat heaters supposed to work when you have a 2 part seat? That is, on my ERA the bottom cushion is removable. Does that mean I can only heat the back?

CJ428CJ:
They come in two pieces, one for the back and one for the seat and they are trimmed to fit with a scissors. If you go to the web site you can download the instructions for installing them. Looks pretty straight forward and uncomplicated.

What's the web site URL? I'll do anything to keep the little lady warm on these cold days.

Where exactly did you download the installation instructions? I went to the web site but couldn't find them. I'm very interested in seeing the instructions first. Thanks.

How much current does a set for one seat pull in each setting?

Zimmy:
Don't know where the link went but I've got a pdf file of the instructions that I downloaded when it was available.
Send me an email at "CWILL1958@COMCAST.NET" and I'll return a copy. Too big to attach on the forum.

Anybody taken these heaters for a test drive? Are they worth $200?

Thanks to all for the responses.
I just ordered them and will provide my experience.
I should be a good test case since I'm very new to this.
Cheers,
Jong

$200 is nothing to keep the woman who let you have this car, warm!
I have a customer who had to sell his Cobra because his wife couldn't keep warm and windfree. She wanted cruise control and stereo and "foof".
They sold their Cobra and bought a Viper!

Don,
Thanks for the PDF file. Looks simple enough. Yep, think I'll be ordering a set soon.

I installed them on my car, no problem. They work well, but the set I received did not need trimming, they were actually a little smaller than I expected. The pad for the seat back didn't come up as high as I thought it should. It really doesn't matter though because if you need to turn them on, you need to be wearing a jacket anyway. The bottom cushion is what keeps you warm.
If you don't have a heater in your car, this is more economical and much easier to install. I think they are definitely worth it.

Hi-
I haven't been watching the forums the last few months- finishing up my car, Carlisle Kit Car Show, the fling, and working on other heater opportunities
3.5 amps per seat.
The reason that the pads are smaller than you would expect is because the entire carbon fiber heats up (unlike the old wire style heaters which only radiated heat about 3/4" from the wire "S"curve through material)
Thermal images show a 50% increase in the body heat from the smaller carbon fiber pads. The heaters are an OEM ford and Diamler Chrysler product, also used in the BMW 5 Series, and is also the the same heating element going in the new C6!
Thanks
