Noisy fuel pump conquered!!
Several weeks ago I posted a message about my noisy Holley electric fuel pump, asking for any ideas. Well, I finally got what I needed. An electric pump and installation that is so quiet that it can be hardly heard with the motor off.
I installed a Carter P4600HP pump in place of the noisy 75 gph Holley Blue pump, used the rubber grommets with the install kit and moved the direct bolt-to-the-frame connection that the Holley had, to a new location higher up on the rear frame area. By isolating the newCarter pump mounting location from the frame rail, and further isolating the pump from the new mounting bracket cured the racket. Of course, it didn't hurt that the new Carter was so much quieter than the Holley straight out of the box. What a difference. I can now turn the ignition key on and not be totally embarassed with the racket, as neighbors, friends or strangers look on at the mighty Cobra at start up. Yahoo.
