That's a great idea. Maybe a yearly type award, something to pass on from year to year.

GR...I hope we may have at least helped and added a little entertainment along the way!

Here's part two:

This happened at National Trails Raceway, Columbus, OH.. Viper Nationals, we were on the "final" after 10 rounds when it happened. We, (the Mrs. and I) dialed in at 11.00, the track was great, the car was running awesome and we knew it was a 10 second night. Mrs. DV came up to me in the staging lanes right before the final run and stated, "it will run 10's tonight, wont it?"

I told her it was dialed in better than it had ever been, but reminded her it was the finals and we would loose if we broke out. She didn't hesitate a second, tapped my helmet and yelled two out of three aint bad! Win the race, turn a time we all thought was impossible, but loose the title.

It hooked so hard, the launch was timed perfectly, and I had a full honest car lenght before the Viper even came into sight!

DV...Sure would have liked two out of three that night

DV,
Have you tried magnufluxing and shotpeening the caps so that won't happen? Other than that you have to go to the 9" rear, there's a couple places that make it in an independent style.

HIghPlains.

That WAS a 9" ! Old man Coughlin (Jegs) was in the tower when it let loose. He and a couple NHRA officials came down to have a look. Said they had seen a lot of blown rear ends in their day, but had never seen one where someone ripped the case in half!

DV...Sometimes you just don't want to be first

DV,
You are probably stressing it with your independent side axles bouncing around. I'd go to fully back braced 9" live axle housing with nodular center and custom 35 spline axles. Should never break that!

HighPlains...It WAS a solid (Moser) axle/housing set up!

See what I mean? Pretty awesome destruction, no?

We've destroyed Auburns, OEM units, heavy duty clutch packs all in the name of racing and fun. But NEVER ripped a housing in half!

"DV II's" have extreme heavy duty independants, actually using 11" ring gears, while our base DV's will normally run beefed up 9" straight axles.

Maybe it was just a bad case It had been in the car for over a year though!

DV..This snow has got to go!

Wink

Snow? We had a week of it.

Ha, I just have to go out cruisin' between raindrops here, drive the cobra all year, a little cold on the ears though. The road is too cold for any traction, but the car sounds awesome when it's cold.

Well with all that carnage I think you should get the 1st hard luck award ! We have Dal's pro street mustang here at Mission raceways turning high 7's with a small block ford and single turbo. He was running a 8.8 rear[auburn 31 spline,c-clip eliminater] for 2 years and switched last year to a sheet metal 9" housing. It's amazing how long that 8.8 held up with 30 lbs of boost. If you go to a solid axle check out the circle track guys, they use a 3 link setup, must work around corners.
Perry.
