Default Welder electrical hookup

I just bought a welder, and discovered that the electrician installed the wrong 220v outlet. He installed the 3 wire with one verticle and 2 slanted prongs (sorry, don't know the proper name). I need a 3 wire that looks like a big 110v plug. I have bought the proper plug, but I am not sure which wire goes where. I have the ground in the middle (round) as directed on the back of the new outlet, but there is no mark for the white or black wires, which one goes on which side?

Brandon, If you have the ground on the correct terminal (should have a green screw) than the other two make no difference on a single phase 240 volt welder.
The white wire is only a neutral identifier on 120 volt circuits.

He is correct I am an electrician and as long as the ground is in the correct position and the welder is a 220 volt then it does not matter which one goes where.

Brandon,

Did you remedy your wiring problem? If you still need help, send me a private message. I'll email you my phone #.
