Default 2x4 vaccuum lines

Each of my carbs appears to have 2 vaccuum line fittings on the side (total of 4).

Do I just connect these carb to carb?

Connect the two vacuum pot tops (secondaries) together and cap the other two.

I concur w/ ST. Connect the the top two and plug the others. But I have guys that had both of them plugged and their set up seemed to work just fine.

ports 1 and 3 should be connected for balanced vacuum between the two secondary diaphrams, ports 2 and 4 are for your timed spark distributor vacuum advance, if you run mechanical advance just plug them like the other guy's mentioned.

Thanks Tony...I feel even better now that I know what they are used for. I hate to do stuff when I don't fully understand the issue. Thanks again.
