homebuilt frame?

i am thinking about making a frame out of 7075 t6 or higher grade aluminum. it would be a space frame patterened after ffr but with more cross members. how would i get this thing titled in ohio and what should i be aware of. thanks.

Herb Adams of VSE fame, built and sold aluminum frames for the COBRA and raced several.
Might start with his method as a thought process. The FFR frame with large tube main members will not lend it's self to a very good design, since you would have to penetrate the main member each time and TIG out both sides to get the strength. Then in turn the inserted member would have to have unusal wall thickness for proper connection, not for the member loading.
The birdcage design with stressed panels will work, similar to VSE.

7075 does not weld well.

Matter of fact it does not weld at all per Reynolds.

Stick with 6061.

Look at the numbers before you design the unit.

A space frame can certainly be done with alloy, but you will find the sections quite large.
