Most hot rodders overcam their motors.
What's the expected redline of your shortblock? Valvetrain?
Now pick a cam that makes it's power before that RPM.
Lets say you don't have the parts in your motor to spin it to 7000, why have a cam that is just coming into the middle of it's powerband at your shiftpoint?
Midrange torque is where it is at, top end HP isn't all it's cracked up to be.
