I also have a 418 and I set my initial at 10 degrees with 25 in the distributor. I kept the heavy silver springs that were in the distributor for the fact that when I used a light silver and a light blue the timing advance started about 1300 rpm. I did not want any centrifigal advance at that rpm for my emissions test. I also have an MSD 6L with a billet distributor. The engine seems to REALLY like that setup!
