Everyone has their own favorite way of doing things, I like to use anti-seize on all the bolts (to prevent dissimilar metal corrosion) and torque in at least three steps. After the engine has been through a few good heat cycles re-torque. As a preventative measure I also like to re-torque at about 10,000 miles (while it may be down the road a bit, it still good to keep in mind).
